Introducing: Kendra the Genie!

Here's a character I've been drawing for a long time. She's shy and believes that magic equals happiness (fail.) I'm still not sure If I'm happy with her outfit because I want her character to develop from insecure to confident and I'd like to express that through her clothing choices. Maybe I'll have to try some frumpy genie clothing on her.

My first goal for this drawing was dramatic lighting from an odd angle and although I have a lot of work to do I think this is a big improvement. My second was to maintain a interesting and appealing color palate. Again, there's room for getting better but I'm still proud with what I came up with.

Here's my deviantart account where I'll be posting all my art: http://happyendingsgirl.deviantart.com/

  2. Hey Natasha! Remember me? Kendra Knudsen from yearbook!
I saw that you had a blog on FB and I decided to stalk it to see all the stuff you'll do! And can I just say...this made my day!! All because you decided to name her Kendra! I can't wait for when (not if) you become famous and this becomes a Disney Movie! :)

  3. Kendra! Of course, I remember you. You were for sure one of my favorite people in yearbook. I'm glad you approve of the name, haha. In a sort of way, if I hadn't met you this probably wouldn't have been the genie's name because I had never met a Kendra before. It was just perfect when I figured our your name means magic. Lone Peak and all the characters involved in it is such a huge inspiration for me I wouldn't be surprised if references from it came out in my work. PLUS the setting for this Kendra is actually a two different schools. Cross your fingers and hopefully I can take my ideas to Pixar!

  4. Good. And same for you! Sweet I feel cool! It does? Hmm well the English root of my name means Knowledge, do you know what origin the meaning of magic is from? Wait I'm confused by what you mean with "the setting for this Kendra is actually a two different schools"?
and the reply to your other comment: ha thanks! The header makes me laugh. I'm planning on going to BYU-Provo this fall, and right now I'm planning on studying Journalism with a minor in Art history...but I'm pretty sure that's going to change!
Hey I have a question: Are you doing Disney's college program? and are you at Disneyland or Disneyworld? I'm actually planning on applying for that in the spring, and I'm thinking I want to go to Disneyworld!

  5. Uh..This is the website I got the meaning from : http://www.babynames.com/name/KENDRA

The settings I think will be her 'genie' school and a normal world school because the person who finds the lamp will be frequenting it.

I am doing the College Program! I'm in Disney World. It's a lot of fun down here an I'm sure you can get in. Feel free to ask me any questions about the program. I remember when I was looking into applying I had so many.

  6. Well sweet that's good enough for me! oh I got it, sounds cool!

Really? I will definitely take you up on that offer! In fact I have two right now: 1. Do you get paid and how much? 2. If I want to do it next summer, when should I apply?

  7. You do get paid. How much is depending on what role you get. I'm not sure when you apply for the summer program but I applied about five months before my program started. I'm pretty sure this website has that answer : https://www.wdwcollegeprogram.com/sap/its/mimes/zh_wdwcp/index.html
